Hurtigruten Group announced today that it has entered into a contract with Kongsberg Maritime for the conversion of 3 ships in Hurtigruten Norway segment to a new hybrid propulsion system. The conversion project will replace the planned LNG conversion project. CO2 emissions will be reduced by at least 25 %, and NOx emissions cut by 80 percent. The timing of the planned capex and fuel savings will not materially change as a result of the change of scope. The execution of the conversion projects will be in 2022 and 2023.
